Rodeo Houston 2011

Kirk and I got to take Allan to the rodeo this year!

Allan & Papa working at "Fun on the Farm."
(Where Mimi & Papa worked at during the rodeo.)

Allan's favorite part:
the petting zoo.
That boy would have stayed in there as long as I let him.
He loves feeding and petting all those sweet animals!

This guy was Allan's favorite, because he wouldn't stop eating our clothes.  Allan thought that was the funniest thing ever.
This year was Allan's first time riding any of the carnival rides.  We let him pick the first ride he wanted to get on.  Of course, it had to have been one of the race car/dune buggies kind of rides.
He was all smiles at first...
Until the ride started.
Then panic set in.  Not that the ride was too fast or too high.  I guess it's just cause it was all new to him.  He was not happy.  The smiles were all gone and all that was left was a bright red face and screams.

All the comforting and coaxing we tired to do from the outside of the gate did not help.  That ride could not end fast enough for us to get him off.  The fun was over and he was no longer a happy little camper.

So we moved on the other "rides" that seemed more fitting for Allan.
Kirk and I waited outside of this "ride."  We didn't even think that parents could go on with their child to help them along.  Allan got "stuck" at one point and needed a little help.  Do you know how hard it is to try and scream directions to a 3 year old at a carnival and hope that he hears you and understands what you're saying?  It's not easy.
Thankfully there was this one kind lady who was following her kids through and she was nice enough to grab Allan and show him the way.  She stayed with him the whole time.
Bless her for being so kind to a strange, lost, little boy.

This was definitely more fitting for Allan, than the moving rides.
Maybe we'll give those a try again next year...
